The calculation, step by step
Area per roll (m²) = width (mm) ÷ 1,000 × length (m)
Total area = area per roll × roll count
Net mass (kg) = total area × grammage (g/m²) ÷ 1,000
Worked example: 1,200 mm × 500 m × 8 rolls = 4,800 m². At a measured 160 g/m², the total net material mass is 768 kg, or 96 kg per roll.
Blank grammage still gives a valid area result; it does not mean the material weighs zero.
What this result does not include
- No slitting loss, installation overlap or spare material allowance. Use your required finished dimensions.
- No paper cores, cartons or pallets. This is not shipping weight or chargeable freight weight.
- No conversion from thickness to weight. For mixed-material laminates, use measured finished-material grammage.
