Reflective Mylar Film

Metallised PET, mirror or matte. The lightest way to reflect.

About this family

Aluminium-metallised PET film supplied in rolls. Mirror or matte finish, single- or double-sided, optionally laminated to PE or PET for extra strength. Used as reflective liners, light-control layers and vapour barriers by converters worldwide.

Layer structure
Aluminium (vacuum metallised)PET film
Typical construction: metallised PET. Optional second PET or PE layer for strength.

What it is

Metallised PET, often called mylar film, is polyester film with a thin layer of aluminium deposited on one side under vacuum. The aluminium gives it a mirror-like surface; the polyester gives it dimensional stability, tear resistance and a clean, printable back. It is the lightest and lowest-cost reflective material we supply.

We offer it plain, laminated to a second PET or PE layer for strength, or with a matte finish where a softer, more diffuse reflection is wanted.

How to specify

Tell us the film thickness you are used to, the finish (mirror or matte), whether one or both sides need to be metallised, the roll width and length, and what the film will be laminated or sewn to downstream. If you have a competitor sample, send it: matching an existing construction is usually faster than starting from a spec sheet.

Typical uses

Grow-room and greenhouse wall lining, reflective liners inside tents and enclosures, light-control layers in lamps and signage, vapour barrier layers in packaging laminates, and as the reflective face in our own woven and foam composites.

Frequently asked

Is metallised PET the same as aluminium foil?

No. Metallised PET carries a very thin vacuum-deposited aluminium layer on plastic film; aluminium foil is solid rolled metal. Metallised film is lighter, cheaper and more flexible; foil has a higher and more durable reflectivity and a lower emissivity. We supply both.

Can it be printed or laminated?

Yes. The PET side accepts printing and adhesives; the metallised side can be laminated to scrim, foam or fabric.
